Day 16 / Dia 16 - Rio de Janeiro & Angras dos Reis

Dia 16

Day 16

This morning, we went on a tour in the center of the city, learning a bit of its history. We saw the "Theatro Municipal," where shows, plays, and films are showcased. We were told that sometimes they have programs in which the public can enter for R$1.00, or about $3.33 USD. After, we went to a museum that was once the home to a Brazilian president, who killed himself in his bedroom on the third floor, due to political pressure. In the house, we learned of the history of the Brazilian Republic, as well as viewed art and political documents of the time. That concluded the Rio part of our trip. We then left for Angra dos Reis. Upon arriving, everybody swapped pins and buttons from their countries, some even handing out coins and chopsticks! We started our goodbye luau; winning awards for the "best Portuguese," "the "most late," and the "mom and dad of the trip." We danced and swam until 3 in the morning, talking and enjoying the presence of all of our new friends.

Day 13 / Dia 13 Linhares - Rio de Janeiro

We woke up early and started our last bus ride to Rio de Janeiro. It was about 15:00 o clock when suddenly the engine of the bus quit the job. It was totally silence in the bus. About an half an hour later the problem seemed to be solved and we continued the ride. About 40 minutes later the same happened again. It took about an another half an hour to fix the problem and to to restart the engine. The same happend two more times then we stopped at about 22:00 o clock at a petrol station so that the bus drivers could work on the bus's problem better than on the security stripe of the highway. About an hour later we decided to eat something for dinner because we knew we wouldn't make it for dinner in Rio de Janeiro. So we crossed the highway and walked to a restaurant called Bob's Burgers. It is a kind of MC Donald's just worse. At about 24:00 o clock we returned to the bus and hopefully make it in one ride to our destination. I just fall asleep and got woken up when we entered finally after 17 hours in the bus Rio de Janeiro it was about 01:00 o clock. And of course we had to stop one more time because the engine turned off again. But it wasn't that bad because we could see the famous statue of Jesus. We arrived at the hotel at about 02:00 o clock in the morning.  Where I just fall asleep.

Day 11 / Dia 11 - Porto Seguro

-------------------------------------------------

During this time, some girls had fake tattoos and others were in the water. Mariana Serrato, Madison, Teresa, Paul, Christian, Kushal, Simon, Melissa, Alejandra, Luz Mariana, Angie, Isa came back; then Ronni informed us again what we were going to do in the afternoon; so we returned to the hotel. Arriving there, most of students went to the pool as it was not lunch time yet; at 12:30pm, we had lunch and got ready to leave for the tour: we had a city tour; Mariana Serrato yelled the "jegue porreta" game and in the moment, Christian was inside the bus, so he had to do it in there - I found it funny! When we finished the tour, we went to the hotel to get ready as we had a meeting at 08:30pm in which they told us the activities of the following day! We told funny stories of the day and elected Mariana again as the "jegue porreta". To end it up, we went to a club to have dinner and dance a little.

Day 9 / Dia 9 - Salvador

Our day in Salvador started very well as we could sleep until 8am (even this way, I got late, so that's why I'm writing the blog today).
The entire day, we had the company of a multi-language guide who showed us the city in Portuguese, German, French and English. We went to Farol da Barra first, then to the Church of Bonfim, famous for the bracelets. We bought some things - some of us with more or less success on getting a better price.
Then we headed to a very big fair, full of stores/small stands, where we bought souvenirs and presentes.
At afternoon, we visited a very beautiful church, covered with gold!
Then, we were surprised by a big rain, so we went to watch the Capoeira Show that was fantastic! It was very interesting, varied, colorful and impressive.
Salvador is a diverse city, full of culture. It is a part of Brazil completely diferente that I was used to.

Day 6 / Dia 6 - Maceió

Dia 6

-------------------------------------------------------

Day 6

After breakfast we took the bus to go to a beach in Maceió. There we took some small boats to go swimming in some natural pools in the middle of the sea. We stayed for about an hour and had fun with the fish and playing around. When we got back to the beach everyone had some free time to go to a fair on the beach and buy a souvenir and enjoy themselves. Lunch was in a self-service restaurant in front of the beach. Madison, who won the Jegue Porreta yesterday made everyone do the "Jegue Porreta"-Move. The employees in the restaurant were quite surprised and confused. When we finished there we took the bus to Praia do Francês, where everyone who wanted could take a surfing lesson. There were helpers in the turf who helped everyone catch some waves and there was water and fruit on the beach to eat and reenergize. This was one of the highlights of the day and everyone had a great time. Who did not take the surfing lesson was free to go for a swim, buy something in the beach shops, have some juice and relax. After the lesson was finished and all pictures taken we returned to the hotel. At night there was a small presentation of Forró in the hotel and we danced and had dinner with the music.

Day 5 / Dia 5 - Maceió

Dia 5

Day 5

Today was the first time we went to the beach on this trip, and we also had a good weather! In the morning we went by bus for one hour. We had a break to take pictures with the exchange students.
To come to our aim beach was a little adventure. We had to drive by ship for 30 minutes. The view was amazing!

After we arrived, the most exciting thing was that we drove with the buggy to another part of the beach. Eveyrone took the flag of their countries and sat on backseat of the buggy. This experiencie was one of the best today.
After the buggy trip we had time for 3 hours where we spent on food, ocean and souvenirs shops. It was a wonderful time.

When we returned to the hotel we went to the pool, took a shower and we got ready for the party.
On the party there was a DJ, a soccer playground, food and a pool.
